Maruti Suzuki has recently expanded its Fronx lineup with the introduction of the Delta+ (O) variant, boasting a significant safety enhancement by incorporating six airbags. Priced at Rs 8.93 lakh for the manual transmission and Rs 9.43 lakh for the automatic transmission, this new variant sits between the existing Delta+ and Zeta models in the Fronx series. Notably, the Delta+ (O) variant exclusively offers the 1.2-litre petrol engine option.

This latest addition aims to address the growing demand for safer vehicles in the Indian automotive market. With an emphasis on safety, the Delta+ (O) variant distinguishes itself by providing a comprehensive six-airbag system, surpassing the standard dual frontal airbags found in the Delta+ model. Despite the notable safety upgrade, the pricing of the Delta+ (O) variant has sparked discussions regarding its affordability versus safety benefits.

In terms of specifications, the Fronx lineup offers two engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. While the 1.2-litre petrol engine generates 90hp and 113Nm of torque, the turbo-petrol engine delivers a higher output of 100hp and 148Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) for the petrol engine, and a 6-speed torque converter for the turbo-petrol unit.

Despite the introduction of the Delta+ (O) variant, the Fronx remains competitively priced between Rs 7.51 lakh and Rs 12.88 lakh, positioning itself against rivals such as the Toyota Taisor, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, and Kia Sonet in the compact SUV segment. However, the higher cost of the Delta+ (O) variant raises questions about its accessibility to budget-conscious consumers compared to its safety features.
