The Skoda Octavia, an iconic model from the Czech brand, is set to make a big comeback in the Indian market with a facelift and a new engine. We visited Skoda’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav to get a detailed look at what this update offers.
The new version of the Octavia, called the Sportline, aims for a sportier look compared to the traditional luxury. The Indian version is expected to adopt names like “Exclusive Selection” or “L&K,” aligning with the model’s premium positioning in the market. Aesthetically, the facelift brings a more aggressive design with sharper bumpers and a new headlamp design. While the front grille remains unchanged, the 18-inch wheels and revisions to the rear light cluster emphasize the Octavia’s robust identity.
Inside, the highlight is a 13-inch touchscreen borrowed from the Enyaq iV, now featuring an AI assistant named Laura. This screen offers excellent resolution, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree camera. The minimalist layout is complemented by recycled materials, keeping a sustainable approach.
Under the hood, the new version globally replaces the beloved 2.0 TSI engine with a 1.5 TSI engine producing 150 hp, similar to the Skoda Slavia. This change aims to meet BS6.2 emission standards, although with a loss in power and driving fun. The new engine also comes with an optional mild-hybrid system for greater efficiency.
