The new Audi A6 e-tron has been globally revealed, featuring innovative technology and sophisticated design based on the PPE architecture. It is expected to arrive in India by 2025.
Audi has unveiled the new A6 e-tron globally, available in Sportback and Avant styles. This is the second model from Audi built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture, which was developed with Porsche and is also used in the Q6 e-tron SUV launched earlier this year. The A6 e-tron follows Audi’s new naming system, where odd numbers are for gasoline cars and even numbers for electric vehicles (EVs). This makes the A6 e-tron the electric version of the A5 sedan.
The exterior design of the A6 e-tron is elegant, with unique features like customizable LED lighting. The sportier S6 e-tron has distinctive bumpers and aggressive details. The A6 e-tron’s shape, especially in the Sportback version, is similar to the A7 gasoline model, with an aerodynamic design boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.21cd.
Inside, the A6 e-tron shares many features with the Q6 e-tron, including a curved screen that combines an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment screen. There’s also a separate 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger, a head-up display with augmented reality, and a voice assistant with AI support. The ambient lighting wraps around the dashboard and changes color based on preferences, serving as a charge indicator and turn signal.
The A6 e-tron will initially be available in three versions: a base RWD with 282hp, a Performance RWD with 362hp, and a top-spec Quattro AWD with 422hp. The S6 e-tron has Quattro AWD and 496hp, reaching up to 543hp with launch control. The 0-100 km/h acceleration ranges from 6.0 seconds for the base model to 3.9 seconds for the S6 e-tron.
There are two battery options: the base RWD with an 83kWh battery offering a range of 610km, and a larger 100kWh battery for other models, providing a range of 647km to 756km. The 100kWh battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes with 270kW power at 800 volts. Audi also offers an AC charging option at 22kW and charging ports on both sides for convenience.
The A6 e-tron is expected to launch in India by mid-2025, with prices starting around €75,000 (approximately Rs 68 lakh) and €100,000 (approximately Rs 91 lakh) for the S6 e-tron. In India, it will compete with the BMW i5.
